Explore Creative Works from Youth in TPP & Title X Programs Across the Country!

Join the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) in celebrating the work of this year’s participants in Youth Create!. We are pleased to highlight the more than 40 inspired submissions received from youth in Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) and Title X programs. Young people’s creative works focused on themes related to mental health, their relationships, their communities, and hopes for the future.

OPA launched Youth Create! three years ago as part of its youth engagement efforts. It is an invitation for young people served by OPA’s programs to share their thoughts and experiences about health and being an adolescent today. The 2023 call was the first year where youth suggested the prompts they would like to answer. Youth input led to the following prompts for 2023 participants:

  • How do you care for yourself during tough times? And how can adults support you?
  • Spotlight something about or in your community that is important to you.
  • What is something that you have come to cherish or value more in the last few years?
  • What does a healthy future mean to you and others your age?

Submissions reflected the diversity of young people in the United States and U.S. Territories and Freely Associated States and encompassed a variety of media, including poetry, fine and digital art, videos, and original songs. While young people shared challenges that young people continue to face, even in the aftermath of COVID-19, they also highlighted their own resilience and ability to find support within their communities.

OPA hopes that in addition to viewing their work, you will join us in continuing to elevate their voices and perspectives by sharing the posts below on your social media accounts.
