Adolescents have unique perspectives. They are at a stage in life marked by new roles and capacities for thinking and engaging with the world. For that reason, youth and youth-serving professionals benefit from authentic youth engagement in programs. It provides adolescents with opportunities for growth and self-expression and informs programs about how to better meet the needs of youth.
With these benefits in mind, the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) launched Youth Create! as part of its own youth engagement efforts. OPA invites young people ages 13 to 21 who have participated in OPA’s grantee programs to respond to prompts each year. Then, youth share their videos, poems, stories, art, photos, and voice recordings.
