Title X Clinics Provide Reproductive Health Services in Innovative Ways

The Office of Population Affairs’ (OPA) Title X family planning program is a critical part of America’s public health safety net, serving as a point-of-entry into care for millions and the gold standard for providing high-quality, affordable, and confidential voluntary family planning and related preventive health services, with priority given to low-income clients. The Title X program has improved access to reproductive healthcare, serving nearly 195 million people in the program’s more than 50-year history.

Family planning services delivered by Title X recipients include a broad range of medically approved services, which includes:

  • All Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved contraceptive products and natural family planning methods for clients who want to prevent pregnancy and space births;
  • Pregnancy testing and counseling;
  • Assistance to achieve pregnancy;
  • Basic infertility services;
  • Sexually transmitted infection (STI) services; and
  • Other preconception health services.
