Project Name: Rhode Island Equity-Centered Approaches to Teen Pregnancy Prevention

Project Overview: The Rhode Island Department of Health, through their Rhode Island Equity-Centered Approaches for Teen Pregnancy Prevention (RIDOH TPP) project, will center equity in a multi-component, systems focused, and community-based approach to promoting adolescent health and addressing teen pregnancy prevention. The RIDOH TPP Project will implement evidence-based programs to adolescents aged 11-19 engaged in out-of-home care or juvenile justice settings, and in four Rhode Island communities with at least 25% of children living in poverty: Central Falls, City of Pawtucket, Providence, and Woonsocket. Taking a holistic approach, the RIDOH TPP Project will also partner with youth-serving systems and community-based partners to strengthen referrals to supportive services for adolescents, while offering education and support to engage family and caregivers of youth participants. Ultimately, the RIDOH TPP Project aims to empower adolescents to thrive, build supportive connections, and develop healthy behaviors by promoting comprehensive, coordinated, and equitable systems of support.
