Program Summary
Intervention Name: Safe Dates for Teen Mothers (SDTM)
Project Overview: Research Triangle Institute (RTI International) is conducting a rigorous effectiveness and process evaluation of Safe Dates for Teen Mothers (SDTM) using a convergent mixed-methods design. SDTM is a healthy relationships promotion and intimate partner violence (IPV) prevention program. This program was previously adapted from Safe Dates and pilot tested for pregnant and parenting young women. SDTM intends to address the gap in healthy relationship and IPV prevention programming to improve sexual health outcomes for pregnant and parenting youth. The program includes 8 hours of in-person content designed for groups of teens and includes interactive discussions, analysis of scenarios, games, role-play, a poster contest, and theatrical play.
