Program Summary
Project Name: Advancing Health Equity using Teen Pregnancy Prevention Interventions
Project Overview: Through its teen pregnancy prevention (TPP) project, Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania (FHCCP) proposes to serve a 24-county region of central Pennsylvania (PA) that experiences distinct challenges in access to services, including evidence-based TPP programming. FHCCP has identified two populations of focus for this opportunity: 1) adolescents from Black and Hispanic/Latino(a) ethnic and racial groups, ages 17-19; and 2) adolescents, ages 17-19, living in rural areas. FHCCP plans to use evidence-based programs (EBPs) in three unique settings: clinical settings, schools and colleges, and community-based organizations (CBOs). For this proposed project, they will adopt culturally responsive positive adolescent development and trauma-informed approaches to empower adolescents with the skills to form and maintain healthy relationships, make safer sexual (and life) choices, and work toward their goals.
Community(ies) Served: 24 counties of central PA
Target Population: Black and Hispanic youth ages 17-19
Geographic Area Served (Urbanicity of Community): Central PA (Mixed)
Average Anticipated Number of Youth Served Annually: 10,050
