Program Summary

Project Name: ENC-HEAL - Eastern North Carolina Health Equity for Adolescent Lives

Project Overview: The Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research (CHPIR) at Duke University will serve adolescents ages 13-21 in Eastern North Carolina through CHPIR’s Eastern North Carolina Health Equity for Adolescent Lives (ENCHEAL) project. The specific programs to be implemented will be identified through an extensive community assessment process that will involve adolescents, caregivers/parents, and community members. This project will scale up programming in four settings: 1) juvenile justice; 2) independent living for foster care youth; 3) Community-Based Organizations, and 4) Martin County Schools. Further, CHPIR staff and consultants will work with and train local health departments, federally funded Title X clinics, local mental health entities, and adolescent health practitioners to increase awareness and improve adolescent-friendly services.  

Community(ies) Served: Craven, Edgecombe, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Nash, Pitt, Tyrell, and Washington Counties in Eastern North Carolina
