Program Summary

Project Name: Advancing Equity in Adolescent Healthy through Evidence-Based Teen Pregnancy Prevention in Lancaster, South Carolina

Project Overview: The Children’s Council will implement a project to address teen pregnancy among middle, high school, and college students through the lens of positive youth development with the support of over 40 partners. The Children’s Council will use several proven effective curricula to develop pro-social skills and leadership through school-based campaigns and in residential care to address and promote healthy teen dating, mental health, community service, and philanthropy. This project will also partner with a local cable access station to produce public service announcements and broadcasts. This project aims to serve 2,441 youth annually. 

Community(ies) Served: Lancaster County, Buford, Heath Springs, and Indian Land, SC

Target Population: Black, White and Hispanic Middle and High School youth aged 13 – 17; College Freshmen

Geographic Area Served (Urbanicity of Community): Lancaster, SC (Rural)
