Program Summary
Project Name: Advancing Equity Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program and Services
Project Overview: Capacity Builders, Inc. (CBI) will implement the Advancing Equity in Navajo Youth through Evidence-Based Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program and Services (Advancing Equity TPP) Initiative in the Four Corners Region with a focus on providing services to the culturally specific tribal communities on and off the Navajo Reservation. Through established trust and partnerships with Navajo Nation (NN) leaders, elders, and agencies, the Advancing Equity TPP Initiative will deliver a robust, culturally responsive, and comprehensive curriculum of medically accurate and age-appropriate evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs in four school and community settings on the NN Reservation in New Mexico and Arizona. The Advancing Equity TPP Initiative aims to 1) to expand access to high-quality programs to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes and promote positive youth development, and 2) to reduce teen birth rates in historically marginalized minority American Indian youth. CBI will collaborate with a multisector community network composed of a Community Advisory Board and Tribal Advisory Council to implement and scale-up the initiative to empower Navajo youth in the region. CBI’s Advancing Equity TPP Initiative aims to reach 590 youth annually.
