HHS Announces $69 Million to Replicate and Scale Community-Driven Evidence-Based Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Programs

July 1, 2024

The HHS Office of Population Affairs (OPA) is awarding more than $69 million to 55 organizations to replicate and scale community-driven evidence-based TPP programs with youth and caregivers across 31 states and Puerto Rico. Of the 55 organizations receiving funding, 53 are receiving continuation funding for the second year of a five-year project period. Two additional organizations are receiving their initial year of funding for a four-year project period and will expand the reach of the TPP program to youth in Indiana and Oklahoma. The awards range from $350,000 to $2 million and aim to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes, promote positive youth development, and advance health equity for adolescents, their families, and communities through the replication of medically accurate and age-appropriate evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs and services. In addition to implementing evidence-based programs, funding supports meaningful engagement of youth, parents/caregivers, and the community in the design, implementation, and monitoring of the project. Further, it supports active collaboration with a network of partners to increase awareness of and access to adolescent-friendly health services.

OPA’s TPP program is a national, competitive grant program that provides funding to replicate and scale evidence-based TPP programs and develop and evaluate new and innovative approaches to improve adolescent sexual health outcomes and promote positive youth development in communities across the United States.
