Program Summary

Project Name: Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s (PPMM) Sex Ed Equity (S.E.E.) Project

Project Overview: Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s (PPMM) Sex Ed Equity (S.E.E.) Project will implement Power Through Choices, an evidence-based, trauma-informed program developed to prevent teen pregnancy among youth who are at risk or involved in the juvenile justice system. The S.E.E. Project will be supported by a multi-modal strategy to train and support “youth influencers” and will involve more than a dozen community collaboratives, regional working groups, and state-wide partnerships. This program will be provided to youth ages 13-18 in three California counties and two Nevada counties. The S.E.E. Project will reach 75 youth in the first year and 560 youth in the second year. To support the adults surrounding the target youth populations, the Project will offer a S.E.E. Project Toolkit – including resources and online learning – to 600 adult caregivers and 100 site staff and other youth influencers in the second year.

Target Population: Youth ages 13-18 in the child welfare/foster care or juvenile justice system or who are experiencing homelessness

Geographic Area Served (Urbanicity of Community): Kern, Monterey, and Tulare counties, CA; Carson City and Washoe County, NV (Mixed)
