TPP Grantee Type: Replicating Effective Programs to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (TPP19 Tier 1) – 2019-2021
Annual Funding: $493,000
Project Overview: Obria’s Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) program will replicate and scale-up the REAL (Relationship Education and Leadership) Essentials (RE) program, 4th Edition in six traditional and alternative school settings to better understand which elements, components, and factors are most important to expanding the program’s success. Obria will equip youth with the skills they need to delay sexual activity, discontinue sexual activity for those who are already sexually active, and avoid other related risk behaviors to greatly improve their chance of achieving optimal health, including avoiding teen pregnancy. The program looks forward to demonstrating the feasibility of an embedded outcome evaluation plan and its readiness to conduct an outcome evaluation in Phase II. Obria will work closely with the California Youth Partnership in Shasta County and with Real Options in San Jose to help youth address risk factors and build protective factors that promote sexual delay and sexual cessation.
