TPP Grantee Type: Replicating Effective Programs to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (TPP19 Tier 1) – 2019-2021

Project Overview: The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) will implement Love Notes (LN) and Reducing the Risk (RTR), two programs that have undergone rigorous evaluation and have been shown to provide positive outcomes for at-risk youth. The overarching goals of the project are the promotion of healthy adolescence, addressing optimal health and taking a holistic approach to both sexual risk and protective factors among youth ages 13-19 in Winnebago county (Rockford, Illinois) with a special focus on vulnerable populations ages 15-19. The program will be delivered in Winnebago County, Illinois, to African American, Hispanic, and multiracial youth in middle schools, high schools, and multiple community-based settings, including after-school and foster care programs. IDSH aims to improve educational, health and social outcomes for this vulnerable population to reduce risky behaviors. The program will be administered by the IDHS’ Division of Family and Community Services.
