Program Summary
Project Overview: The Georgia Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, Inc. (Georgia Alliance) will implement the evidence-based Reducing the Risk curriculum to serve approximately 500 teens in Georgia across six rural counties. All targeted counties have teen birth rates, childhood poverty rates, and incidences of sexually transmitted diseases that are above state and national averages. The Reducing the Risk curriculum seeks to teach students interpersonal skills they can use to abstain from sex and reduce risk factors to their sexual health. Through this program, the Georgia Alliance aims to reduce teenage pregnancy, behavioral risk factors underlying teenage pregnancy, and other associated risk factors.

Geographic Area Served (Urbanicity of Community): Colquitt, Brooks, Greene, Laurens, Floyd, Murray counties in Georgia (Rural)
Teen Birth Rate in Area Served (Per 1,000)*: 45.8
*Estimates as reported by the grantee in proposal materials and not generated by the Office of Population Affairs.
