Program Summary
Project Overview: Equipping Youth (EY) will deliver the Powerful Choices (PC) curriculum to youth ages 10-14 in middle schools in Cedar Rapids, IA and the surrounding areas. The PC curriculum aims to increase protective factors among youth while teaching holistic optimal health and life skills. EY will deliver the PC curriculum through 8-10 lessons in schools and will also hold key adult meetings, use electronic communications to coordinate schedules and information, have community “think tanks,” and provide youth and family service referrals. A summative evaluation will assess which lessons and activities of the PC curriculum are most effective for increasing knowledge and youth protective factors.
