Program Summary

Project Name: South Texas Teen Leadership & Development (STTLD) Program

Project Overview: Community Action Corporation of South Texas’ South Texas Teen Leadership & Development (STTLD) Program will implement the Teen Outreach Program® in middle schools, Love Notes 3.0 Sexual Risk Avoidance Adaptation Evidence-Based Program in high schools, and Safer Sex Intervention in clinics/community settings to reduce birth rates, sexually transmitted infection (STI) rates, and risk behaviors in youth. STTLD will target young women aged 13-19 across six independent school districts in four South Texas Counties with teen birth rates three to four times higher than the national average. STTLD will utilize a holistic and inclusive approach to replicate proven effective curricula, increase adult support systems, and provide complementary support services to affect community-wide change. STTLD aims to serve 1,143 youth annually.

Community(ies) Served: Brooks County independent school district (ISD), Freer ISD, Benavides ISD, San Diego ISD, Jim Hogg County ISD, and Alice ISD
