TPP Grantee Type: Replicating Effective Programs to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (TPP19 Tier 1) – 2019-2021

Project Overview: Change Happens will implement the HYPE (Helping Youth Prevent Engaging in Risky Behaviors) 3.0 Program, serving African American and Hispanic/Latino teens ages 15-19 in high schools and charter schools within the Houston Independent School District in Houston, Texas. Change Happens will offer the evidence-based Love Notes Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA) curriculum, which seeks to empower youth with the skills to further their personal development, form and maintain healthy relationships, and commit or recommit to abstaining from nonmarital sex while working toward success in education and employment. Program goals include improving participants’ self-regulation and self-control, increasing participants’ knowledge of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, and improving participants’ family connectedness. Change Happens expects to serve 1,000 teens and 500 parents each year through the HYPE 3.0 Program.
