Program Summary
Project Name: Transforming the Village: Optimal Health, Optimal Future
Project Overview: Bethany Christian Services of Michigan will implement Transforming the Village: Optimal Health, Optimal Future, a holistic teen pregnancy prevention project using Love Notes 3.0 Sexual Risk Avoidance Adaptation Evidence-Based Program curriculum to improve the optimal health of adolescents and reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection (STI) rates. The project’s goal is to form a comprehensive, integrated model that will provide seamless entry into activities for at-risk youth aged 15-17 living in the urban core of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The project aims to reach 190 youth in year one and 280 youth in years two and three for an annual average of 250 youth. Additionally, the project aims to serve 190 caregivers and 100 professionals in year one and 280 caregivers and 100 professionals in years two and three.
Community(ies) Served: Six high schools with high poverty (>75% Free and Reduced Lunch) in Kent County
Target Population: Youth aged 15-17; multisystem-involved youth, including youth in foster care and youth involved in Juvenile Justice
